是一本比較早期的辭典,不過問題很多,我隨手舉 169頁的 patrol beat in inspection planning ,它解釋為「檢查計畫中的巡迴路線」,我認為這應更正為「檢查計畫中的巡迴區域(規畫)」:

hc:「"今天為大家介紹 flic ,法文拼寫形式相同。字典資料都中規中矩地解釋作「警察」,我編輯字典時,心想既然是俗俚用語,何妨把本地所稱的「條子」放進字典中。"

--「警官」與「警察」差不多嗎?

是啊很有可能來自東洋
古時不都說捕頭, 捕快, 捕役, 捕衙來著?
雖然意義上不盡完全相同

但是到了租界時代, 巡捕, 巡捕房, 捕房應該就近乎等同警察和警察局/派出所了
----
「警察」,可能從日本跑來的... 。因為『教育部國語辭典』有「警」與「察」之(無「警察」)引言。
