Takes a Bow, idiom, soot sooty, an about face. But as the shame closet grows, the task of excavation or organization becomes too daunting to contemplate.

A shame closet is that spot in your home where you cram the stuff that has nowhere else to go. It doesn’t have to be a closet. It can be a garage or a room or a chest of drawers or all of them at once. Whatever the space, it is defined by the absence of choices about what goes into it. There are things you need in there. There are things you will never need in there. But as the shame closet grows, the task of excavation or organization becomes too daunting to contemplate.

But does not Alfred Wallace relate in his famous book on the Malay Archipelago
how, amongst the Aru Islanders, he discovered in an old and naked savage
with a sooty skin a peculiar resemblance to a dear friend at home?

Waiting 80 Years, Diva Takes a Bow

take a bow

Acknowledge praise or applause, as in The conductor asked the composer to take a bow. This idiom uses bow in the sense of "inclining the body or head as a token of salutation." [c. 1800]
所以研究文法的時候,不可不知。說話的時候,卻要注意習慣與實效。
我今揀出兩條來,如
   It is me.
納氏說:文法家反對此句,以為必須說It is I。

但是文法家儘管反對,我們儘管維持。因為It is me,是個成立的習語,established Idiom.

you will find that you were mistaken.

you will find that you mistook it.

納氏說「第二句按文法是對的,但是以不用為是,因為與習語衝突 against idiom。」

Media representatives are taken on a tour of a railway tunnel in Kashiwara, Osaka Prefecture, that was believed to have collapsed nearly 80 years ago. A 66-meter section and a 49-meter section of the Kamenose tunnels, built in 1892 and 1924, respectively, were discovered in November 2008 during the excavation of a new tunnel, according to the land ministry. The brick tunnels, which are about 5 meters high and 4 meters wide, remain structurally sound. Soot from locomotives can still be seen covering the ceilings. The Kamenose tunnels were closed after a landslide in the early 1930s.(IHT/Asahi: December 11,2009)
