【#逐字學英文國際日報】73: manipulate (CONTROL) , photo manipulation, produce, dairy, milk, the milk of human, kindness, moustaches, movember

Would administrators please comment on this?! It's frustrating to see people upset over manipulated photos from pre 1930. It certainly is part of photography history. This General Grant photo is a composite of 3 different scenes and created during the Civil War, not today. It's a valid piece of photo history. I feel if people understood some of the processes, they wouldn't feel the need to fly off the hande of how these pics dont belong here. Look up photo manipulation on wikipedia to learn some of the early techniques.

Moustachioed
Movember? Don't you mean November? Nope. We mean Movember. The way the story goes, in 1999, a group of men in Adelaide, Australia, came up with the idea to raise money for charity by having people sponsor their growing moustaches. They decided to dedicate the entire month of November to the cause, and called it Movember (a portmanteau of moustache and November). The idea evolved into a month-long event of raising awareness and funds for men's causes, especially prostate cancer and men's mental health issues. Last year, in Australia alone, some 125,000 men grew a moustache, and more than $8 million was raised for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and beyondblue, a national organization that deals with depression and other mental health problems. There are only a few rules for men who wish to join the cause. They must begin with a clean-shaven face on November 1 and grow a moustache for the entire month — no beards or goatees allowed.

Deception at the Farmers' Market

“Is the produce you buy at your local farmers' market really grown locally? A surprising investigation by the local NBC affiliate in Los Angeles discovered several examples of false claims at various Southern California farmers' markets, including a vendor who purchased boxes of produce from wholesale produce warehouses, including items grown on big commercial farms as far away as Mexico. Have you ever suspected the produce you buy at the farmers' market isn't really from a local farm?”
