To counter customers’ reluctance about jetting off for conspicuous consumption, travel companies are pushing trips that emphasize service.

The thief, who was never caught, must have used up a lifetime's worth of luck in his getaway. If he is still alive amid today's economic troubles, I imagine he's spending his old age in bleak circumstances. Or maybe he is standing in line dreaming of hitting the jackpot once again.

In July, three London freesheets -- the Metro, Thelondonpaper and London Lite -- boasted a combined circulation of 1.65 million daily.
