Thanks to Braille, that great 19th century Frenchman, we can share some parts of the invisible world with total strangers. Be it in Braille, sign language or any other of the world's languages, mutual communication can vastly enrich the lives of individuals and society at large.
Students were surprised and excited about having new copies of “A Student’s Dictionary,” which includes words and their meanings as well as words in Braille and sign language. There also is information about historical figures and other facts a student might need.

The legacy of Louis Braille 200 years on
Two hundred years ago this month, Louis Braille was born near Paris. The son of a saddle maker, it wasn’t likely his name would become known around the world. But it did, due to an accident that left him blind at the age of three.
It was Louis Braille who developed the system of raised dots that enables the blind and visually impaired to read and write, and which bears his name. It’s estimated that Braille is used today by 150 million people around the world. Kyle James spoke with Richard Hellewelle, the director of Royal Blind, an organization based in Scotland. His group is behind National Braille Week, which aims to raise awareness about the writing system.Interview: Kyle James/Richard Hellewelle (Director of Royal Blind, Scotland)
