The division of China’s imperial collection is one of the great stories of Asian art. The Nationalists evacuated more than 13,000 crates of art from Beijing in early 1933 before the Japanese Army could capture the city. The crates were divided up and repeatedly moved around China until the end of World War II, sometimes barely ahead of Japanese bombing raids and ground assaults.

Winehouse cautioned over assault

Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse has "apologised for the incident", says her spokesperson

Troubled pop singer Amy Winehouse has been cautioned for common assault, police have confirmed.
The star, whose battle against drug addiction has overshadowed her recording success, spent the night in the cells at Holborn Station in London.
The 24-year-old singer was questioned by police about an assault in north London on Wednesday.
She agreed to attend the station voluntarily and has now left the police building.
Winehouse's spokesman said in statement: "Amy Winehouse was questioned this morning at a London police station in connection to an incident in Camden in the early hours of 23 April, 2008.
"She admitted to a common assault by slapping a man with an open hand and accepted a caution.
"Amy was fully co-operative with inquiries and apologised for the incident. She thanked the police for their professional handling of the matter. There will be no further action taken.
"Amy is looking forward to continuing her work on new music in the studio."
The caution means Winehouse has not been charged, but the incident will remain on the record and could count against her if she is ever charged with a similar offence in future.
