Most studies have not found much evidence of a link between fibromyalgia symptoms and weather patterns.

Fibromyalgia (FM or FMS) is characterised by chronic widespread pain and allodynia (a heightened and painful response to pressure).^[1] Its exact cause is unknown but is believed to involve psychological, genetic, neurobiological and environmental factors

原因は不明であり、通常の医師が行なう血液検査では異常が現れない。CTスキャン、MRIを検査しても異常を発見できない。また、この病気が診断できる特別な検査は今の所なく、治療法も確立されていない。
男性より女性が7倍と多く、中高年に発生率が高いと言われている。しばしば膠原病などの自己免疫疾患を併発する。
