日經BP社報導：「NEC由於其生產的筆記本電腦出現機體變形等故障，決定免費修理所有對象機型。原因是主板材料與電容器材料存在不相匹配的問題，隨著時間的推移、會引起化 學反應並導致發熱。結果，致使電容器出現故障、筆記本電腦無法接入電源，或者導致冒煙，有的機體底面出現了直徑5mm左右的破洞。

　　NEC在2004年1月～2007年5月之間共收到65件問題報告，所以決定進行免費修理。由於這種問題是隨著時間的推移而出現的，因此進入 06年下半年之後，報告數量開始增多。免費修理的對象為2003年3月～2005年4月期間製造的“LaVie M”、“LaVie G型M”及“VersaPro”，總共約5萬4800台。計劃從用戶手裏回收產品、更換主板後還給用戶。（記者：赤坂 麻實）」
