美英澳加紐五國外交部長週日聯合發表聲明，指嚴重關注香港政府不公正地取消參選人資格以及不適當地推遲立法會選舉。聲明指，這些舉動破壞了民主進程，而民主進程對於香港的穩定與繁榮至關重要。

五國外長敦促香港政府盡快舉行選舉，並恢復喪失資格的參選人的資格，以便選舉能夠在《基本法》所規定保障的民主權利和自由的環境中進行。

聲明又提及，他們對中國新實施的國家安全法深表關切，指該法正在侵蝕香港人民的基本權利和自由。

【 五眼聯手｜五國促請港府盡快舉行立法會選舉 被視為國際制裁的先兆】
在美國宣佈制裁11位賣港官員後，同屬五眼聯盟的澳、加、紐、英、美的外長發表聯合聲明，指非常關注港府無理DQ立法會選舉參選人，並不合理地延遲選舉。這些舉措嚴重地破壞香港的民主程序，以及香港的穩定繁榮。
同時，聲明亦再次指出國安法乃侵蝕香港人的基本人權及自由，並要求北京政府在香港落實一國兩制以及中英聯合聲明下的自治及自由。最後，聲明指出這些外相要求政府恢復被DQ的候選人的參選資格，並盡快舉行立法會選舉。
無疑，聲明的內容似是過去各國曾談及的基調，但在宣佈制裁兩日後、以五眼聯盟外長的聯合聲明公佈，便有著特別的政治意味。我推測這將是為各國制裁開出條件，假若中方不積極回應以上兩個要求，更多國家便加入個人制裁、國家制裁的行列。尤其是英國已落實Global Magnitsky Act，一條用以制裁各國人權侵害者的法案，加上最近有跨黨派的議員推波助瀾，受林鄭鍾情的英國進行制裁指日可待。
在國際圍堵下，中共顯然獨力難支。大時代來臨，一切都有可能發生，坐穩了。
