in next to no time, in no time

The third Olympic Games of the modern era, held in 1904 in St. Louis, Missouri, is remembered for its marathon event. According to accounts, one exhausted marathoner hitched a ride in a car and got ahead of his rivals, then jumped out and ran the rest of the way to finish first.

His cheating was exposed in no time, and he was disqualified. Although he maintained his action was intended as a joke, he was accused of "attempting to steal the gold medal" and permanently banned from all competition.
