Land run (sometimes land rush) usually refers to a historical event in which previously-restricted land of the United States was opened for homesteading on a first arrival basis.

Homesteading is a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. It is characterized by subsistence agriculture, home preservation of foodstuffs, and it may or may not also involve the small scale production of textiles, clothing, and craftwork for household use or sale.

互聯網新頂級域名“.asia”星期二（10月9日）正式接受政商用戶的註冊申請。一家香港公司取得獨家註冊管理權。

“.asia”註冊工作的日出期（sunrise）星期二啟動，持有註冊商標的企業和政府機構可以在這階段申請註冊。

到明年2月首段正式註冊期（landrush）開始後，公眾人士也可以挑選自己喜歡的“.asia”域名。

“.asia”域名的開拓工作在2000年展開，總部設在香港的DotAsia組織去年10月取得官方批准設立域名。首批“.asia”網址預定在明年3月正式開通。

“.asia”域名緊隨著去年4月設立的歐洲“.eu”成為全球第二個地區性域名，加入傳統“.net”和“.com”等頂級域名的行列。

DotAsia行政總裁鍾宏安說，新域名充當一個平台，讓企業展示對亞洲市場作為一個整體的承擔，提供讓客戶接觸產品簡單直接的渠道。

這個新的區域性頂級域名也讓用戶在諸如中國“.cn”、香港“.hk”和日本“.jp”等國家或地區專屬域名以外提供另一選擇。
