Roll of Tape
Roll of Tape
You need to: mend a book, put a note on a neighbor's door, wrap a package, seal an envelope whose glue has gone dry, temporarily reattach a flapping sole to the rest of your shoe, mat a picture, repair a torn check... You need cellophane tape. Richard G. Drew, who had developed masking tape in 1926, took the idea a step further, and on this date in 1930, he and his employers at the 3M Company received a patent for cellophane — aka scotch — tape.
