armadillo, scurvy and dysentery, torn apart by packs of wolves in broad daylight

The Kerguelen Island Cabbage was first described during Cook's third voyage to the Pacific (1776-1780). Ships surgeon William Anderson found that the vitamin C-rich leaves aided crew members suffering from scurvy.
