Belgians rally in support of unity

Tens of thousands of Belgians have demonstrated in Brussels to defend the unity of their linguistically divided country.
The protest was meant to press Dutch- and French-speaking politicians to resolve differences that have left the country without a new administration, a record five months after a parliamentary election.

The crisis has led to speculation the kingdom may break up.

The major stumbling block to forming a government is that politicians from Dutch-speaking Flanders and French-speaking politicians from Wallonia can't agree on how much autonomy the Flemish community should enjoy.

stumbling block noun [C]
something which prevents action or agreement: つまずきの石, (進歩などの)障害物.
Lack of willingness to compromise on both sides is the main/major stumbling block to reaching a settlement.
