綁縛是一種人類性活動，以綑綁等約束肢體的方式來達到愉悅感。這是虐戀活動最常見的行為，也是最典型的活動。虐戀活動中，施虐者使用繩索、手銬、腳鐐、枷鎖、鐵鏈等用具捆綁、束縛受虐者，造成受虐者無法自由活動，再對被縛的受虐者施加其他項目。
繩索捆綁的手法多種多樣，除了簡單的捆綁手腕之外，還有更多複雜的綁法，最常用的主要有中式的五花大綁、日式綁縛和歐式綁縛等，每一種綁法都有很多的種類。甚至有的手法還擁有專門的名稱和教學資料，綁縛愛好者社群通常會聚會舉辦活動，來相互交流、切磋各種捆綁方法。
現在的虐戀行為一般不進行其他項目，單純只是實施捆綁，施虐者和受虐者著衣普通，並不暴露。單純以交流捆綁手法、欣賞其藝術表現為目的，通常稱作「繩藝」，各地有出現專門的繩藝攝影工作室，來拍攝與繩藝有關的圖片、視頻或者影視劇。有一些虐戀者因為擔心安全問題或者不想暴露自己的愛好，而實施自我綁縛，不需要另一個人的幫助。
