A rare white tiger has been killed by two lions in a zoo in northern Czech Republic, a zoo official said Thursday.
The lions, 14-year-old Sultan and 11-year-old Elsa, managed unexpectedly to enter an open-air area occupied by the 17-year-old tiger Isabella, by opening a trap door leading to it, Liberec Zoo spokesman Ivan Langr said.
He said authorities were not able to prevent the killing, which took place Thursday morning.
The lions and tigers in the zoo share the same pavilion overnight, which they leave for separate open-air areas during the day. The animals are allowed to enter various areas on a rotating daily basis and the lions likely were trying to enter the place where they spent the previous day, Langr said. He said the zoo will abandon the rotating system following the killing.
The pavilion was built in 1994 and the system has been in place since. No such accident has happened before.
He wants to hold an open-air concert here.(他想在這裡舉行露天音樂會。)
A trap door in the ceiling leads to the attic.(天花板的一扇活動門可通閣樓。)

trapdoor

A hinged or sliding door in a floor, roof, or ceiling.

Install a trap door, it doesn’t have to lead anywhere in particular, maybe just a dirty pit, or even a fiery pit. Or go medieval, and have a cauldron of boiling tar above the door. One pull of a string, and all of your problems will go away!
Ya know, trap doors are a lot easier to build than you think.

例句:Everything is in place.

flush with something

1. Lit. even with something; sharing a surface with something. The edge of the sink is flush with the counter. Thewood flooring iflush with the carpet so people won't trip.

2. Fig. [of a face] red with anger, embarrassment, rage, etc. He faced the woman he had dreamed about all his life.His face flushed with recognition and his heart pounded. Ellen's face flushed with embarrassment.

Flooring is the general term for a permanent covering of a floor, or for the work of installing such a floor covering. Floor covering is a term to generically describe any finish material applied over a floor structure to provide a walking surface. Both terms are used interchangeably but floor covering refers more to loose-laid materials.
Materials almost always classified as flooring include carpetlaminatetile and vinyl.

trapdoor is a sliding or hinged door, flush with the surface of a floor, roof, or ceiling, or in the stage of a theatre.[1] A hatch, an opening which may also be in a wall and need not be flush with the surface, is similar; in some cases either name is applicable. A small door in a wall, floor or ceiling used to gain access to equipment is called an access hatch or access door.

History[edit]

Deck hatch of the Omega, the last square-rigged sailing cargo ship
Originally, trapdoors were sack traps in mills, and allowed the sacks to pass up through the mill while naturally falling back to a closed position.[2]

Many buildings with flat roofs have hatches that provide access to the roof; on ships, hatches—usually not flush, and never called trapdoors—provide access to the deckCargo ships, including bulk carriers, have large hatches for access to the holds.
