overheat, no news is good news, get the better of

 I am not an overheated urbanite. I live in Nagano, actually on the lower slopes of a mountain, yet one Sunday last summer I decided to drive two hours from Matsumoto to Fujimi to check out its view of Mount Fuji. I suppose the name got the better of me.

 

 

Definition of overheat

get the better of

gain an advantage over or defeat (someone) by superior strength or ability:no one has ever got the better of her yet

有時候 No News is Good News.
Having no information means that bad developments are unlikely, as in I haven't heard from them in a month, but no news is good news. This proverbial phrase may have originated with King James I of England, who allegedly said "No news is better than evil news" (1616).
