Throughout his entire career, from his debut in the 1860s up to his final works post 1900, the Opera formed the focal point of Degas’s output.

'Degas at the Opera' is the first book devoted to Degas’s depictions of the people and performances at the Opéra de Paris. See more of the book here: https://bit.ly/36UrheG

APPLE OF THEIR EYE?
Following the iPad’s cotillion ball in April, colleges were lining up to try out the Apple computing tablet before Steve Jobs had kicked off his tennis shoes. Campus technologists greeted news of the device — consistent with the tide of mobile computing but lacking an obvious “killer app” in the education world — with curiosity, enthusiasm, and some skepticism. Could the iPad unseat the laptop as students' portable computer of choice? Might it finally convince students to buy e-books? Or would it prove to be little more than the latest classroom distraction? The article is in Inside Higher Ed.

求你護衛我有如眼中的瞳仁,在你雙翼的庇護下叫我藏身,

the apple of his eye
Special favorite, beloved person or thing, as in The youngest was the apple of his father's eye. This term, which rests on the ancients' idea that the eye's pupil is apple-shaped and that eyes are particularly precious, appears in the Bible (Deuteronomy 32:10). [Early 1600s]

the apple of one's eye

a person of whom one is extremely fond and proud: a daughter who had ceased to be the apple of her father’s eye
[originally denoting the pupil of the eye, considered to be a globular solid body, extended as a symbol of something cherished]
