Philip Falcone is now left with limited options for LightSquared, which include selling his prized spectrum or limping along while slashing costs. Whatever the case, analysts say, his plan to deliver wireless access to up to 260 million consumers will not be realized anytime soon.

Are We Going to Roll Up Our Sleeves or Limp On?

By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
Our country faces a big choice right now. We can either have a hard decade or a bad century.

roll up one's sleeves,

Prepare to work, as in When he saw how much snow had fallen he simply rolled up his sleeves and went to find the shovel. This expression, alluding to turning one's sleeves upward to avoid getting them wet or dirty, is used both literally and more loosely, as in the example here.

A waistcoat (pronounced /ˈwɛskət/ or /ˈweɪstkoʊt/) , sometimes called a vest or a vestee in Canada and the US, is a sleeveless upper-body garment worn over a dress shirt and necktie (if applicable) and below a coat as a part of most men's formal wear, and as the third piece of the three-piece male business suit. Once a virtually mandatory article of men's clothing, it has become uncommon in contemporary dress in the English-speaking world, although it has returned to fashion as part of businesswear in Germany.

It’s not unusual for ECM to get art-world attention. There have been gallery shows of ECM covers in Western Europe, and there are two thick books devoted to the label’s visual language, “Sleeves of Desire” and “Windfall Light,” both edited by Lars Müller.
