BBC報導，英國首相莊漢生的父親電郵英國官員，指出中國駐英大使劉曉明向他說，莊漢生至今仍沒就武漢肺炎親自致電中國領導人討論此事，或發出關心中國情況的聲明，中國官員對此感到關注。
莊漢生的父親是著名環保份子，他會晤劉曉明是為了討論環保事宜，包括今年分別在格拉斯哥和昆明舉行的氣氛峰會和生物多樣化國際會議。
莊漢生的父親不慎把這封電郵同時CC給BBC，令BBC得以報導此事。一直到BBC回覆電郵提醒，電郵內各收件者才發現這段電郵對話已被傳媒得悉。
