balloon, to balloon, door-to-balloon, angioplasty. copyrighted material still slips through.

A.I. companies said they had established guardrails that could prevent their A.I. systems from producing material that violates copyright. But Mr. Marcus said that despite those strategies, copyrighted material still slips through.

A balloon has caused a new crisis in Sino-American relations.
China claimed that the main purpose of the inflatable was meteorological research, and that it simply wandered off course. The Pentagon—and the world—wasn’t buying it.
America called it a surveillance balloon and shot it down over the Atlantic on Saturday. A planned visit to Beijing by Antony Blinken, America’s secretary of state, has been cancelled—at least for now.
With luck, the balloon incident will not escalate. But something else like it could. To prevent that, Joe Biden and Xi Jinping need to find better ways to communicate. Read why their countries’ rivalry needs guardrails to contain small incidents: https://econ.trib.al/sUhdbkG

US trade deficit balloons

Latest figures on the United State's trade deficit show it widening because of record imports, especially surging costs for oil.
Economists warn that the gap for November of 63 billion dollars
could point to a slowing of economic growth. The deficit widened despite record US exports as foreign purchasers took advantage of the weak US dollar. Compared to the gap in October the US trade deficit grew nine percent in November, taking it to its worst level since late-2006, according to the US Commerce Department. The US
dollar is currently trading at one euro 47 cents.
